Institute (1920), Waikerie, Riverland, South Australia

As in other South Australian towns, the Institute is also the Soldiers Memorial Hall. Waikerie is the first of the irrigation centres reached by the traveller from Adelaide to the Riverland. My recollection from youth is that Waikerie, like other Riverland towns, was somewhat untended but in recent years that has all changed and these towns are now very well presented especially the main streets and the river frontages, which usually have large well-maintained parks.
