Snowtown - Mid North Region, South Australia.

Snowtown was proclaimed in 1878. Governor Jervois named it after one of his staff but as he had two gentlemen named Snow on his payroll no one is 100% sure which has the honour. Perhaps it was both. It was created as a service town for the local farming community, built on the main road north and adjacent to the railway. Today it is clearly in decline but there are some interesting buildings.
