St Dominic's Roman Catholic Church (1907),

Hammond, Upper North Region, South Australia

We told the proprietor of the B&B we stayed in in Orroroo that we were interested in old buildings. She advised us to take the back road between Quorn and Orroroo and visit Hammond. She said it is nearly a ghost town and so it is, with only a handful of houses occupied, presumably by local farmers.

The little town was deserted the day we were there - utterly still and silent on a mild but sunny winter's afternoon. St Dominic's had a For-Sale sign out the front. I felt tempted. What peace!
