Mt Breckan (1879), Victor Harbor, Fleurieu Peninsula Region, South Australia

Mt Breckan was designed in 1879 by William Minn as a holiday home for Alexander Hay. Well, everyone likes to have a beach shack! The mansion was destroyed by fire in 1909 and sold by the Hay family. It was re-built in 1912 by a new owner as a country club but was taken over by the Government during World War II. Later it became a Bible College and then a recreation centre. It was extensively refurbished in the late 1990s and used as a conference and function centre for a while before becoming a private residence. In early 2009,when these photos were taken, it was for sale.
